About the Parade

Bands selected for the parade will march alongside floats, celebrities, and fellow elite marching bands through the heart of New York City. They’ll perform in front of Macy’s Herald Square and experience the thrill of live television exposure. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to inspire your students, elevate your program, and create unforgettable memories through music.

How to Apply

Marching bands from across the country and the globe can take part in the parade. However, only band directors can apply (no third-party applications.)

1. Check the Official Website: The Macy’s website is the official source for application information. 

1. Submit an Application: Directors will fill out an online application form and upload the required documents. 

1. Provide Supporting Materials: The application typically requires:
   • A high-resolution color photograph of the entire band in uniform. 
   • A video of the band performing a complete drill or competitive field show. 
   • A band resume outlining past performances, ratings, awards, and community involvement. 
   • A biography of the band director. 

Selection Criteria

The Macy’s Performance Group Committee reviews applications, with a strong emphasis on the band’s quality of performance, showmanship, and overall skill level.  

Application Timeline 

Applications for 2027 open November 29, 2025. Groups will be notified no later than June 30, 2026.
