If you haven’t had the chance to visit this stunning and historically significant region, it’s time to plan your student trip to Virginia Beach!

Norfolk

One of the first shipyards in America and host to the battle of The Monitor and Merrimack, Norfolk is now home to the largest naval base in the world.  Take a tour of the Nauticus National Maritime Museum and visit the Battleship Wisconsin, one of the largest and last battleships built by the U.S. Navy.  Be sure to stop at the MacArthur Memorial, final resting place of General Douglas MacArthur and home to award-winning exhibits. Finally, sail the beautiful harbor in style on an American Rover Cruise.

Newport

Just a quick jaunt up the road is charming Newport News, settled in 1621.  The Mariner’s Museum and Park is a must-do here.  Students will experience the Monitor’s story in a way that history books can’t do justice! The Virginia War Museum sheds light on the history of the American military with unique, personal artifacts, weapons and other fascinating pieces of war memorabilia.

Check out the Lee Hall Mansion- a picture of the antebellum south frozen in time.  The Virginia Living Museum gets you up close and personal with Virginia’s natural heritage and beauty with interactive exhibits and discovery centers.  There’s much to do in this little slice of heaven!

Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach is truly a magnificent place for walks on the beach, casual beach front lunches or breath-taking sunsets.  Students love the energy and excitement of the boardwalk or playing in the waves.

When you are ready to shake off the sand, a trip to the Virginia Aquarium Marine Science Center is a great option for cool, indoor fun!  More than 10,000 animals are featured with countless interactive exhibits.  Follow your wildlife encounters by taking to the treetops as you climb and zipline your way through Adventure Park. Virginia Beach is perfect for your class trip.

Day 1:

Arrive in Virginia Beach and meet your “full-scope” tour director, a seasoned pro who will handle the details of your trip.  Start at the Virginia Aquarium Marine Science Center, featuring more than 10,000 animals and the National Geographic 3D Theater.  Follow your wildlife encounters by taking to the treetops as you climb and zipline your way through Adventure Park.  Lunch is on your own, but dinner at Rockafellers is included before ending the day with a chilling guided ghost tour.

Day 2:

Fuel up for an adventure-filled day with breakfast at the hotel (included).  Begin at the Virginia Zoological Park for wild fun and excitement.  Next, explore the shops and grab some lunch on your own at MacArthur Center.  Make your way to the Nauticus National Maritime Center where students will inspire the crowds during your scheduled performance.

Enjoy a scoop from Doumar’s Cones & Barbecue (on your own) and then have some fun in the sun on the beach or boardwalk.  Wrap up a busy day with a relaxing dinner cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk or American Rover.

Day 3:

Begin with breakfast (included) and depart for Fort Monroe and the Casemate Museum, where can explore more than 400 years of history.  Lunch is on your own, followed by a stop at the Virginia Air & Space Museum.  Then bring on high-energy fun and excitement at Dave & Buster’s or Virginia International Tattoo at Scope Arena (during available dates).

Day 4:

Your last day starts with breakfast (included) and a day in the park.  Choose between Ocean Breeze Waterpark (open late May – September) OR beautiful Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.  Enjoy an included dinner while there before departing for home.
