Mark the start of the holiday season with the world’s largest parade! The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City is the quintessential kick-off for holiday fun. Bands of all shapes and sizes are invited to apply and entertain more than 3 million live spectators and 50 million television viewers. Applications must be submitted by April 1st for participation in the following year’s parade. About the Parade The fun starts at 9:00 am Thanksgiving Day at West 77th Street and Central Park West and stretches 2.5 miles to the Macy’s in Herald Square. Magnificent balloons, fabulous floats, impressive performances, crazy clowns and more join high school marching bands in a parade of more than 8,000! The parade is nationally televised on NBC to showcases your students’ skill and style! How to Apply Only directors are permitted to apply for participation (no third parties). The online application is quick and easy and must be uploaded no later than February 1st of the parade year. Applicants will be notified within 90 days of the deadline. Applicants must submit full field show footage from either a halftime or competitive show. The selection committee looks for outstanding and energetic performances. They should also include any special awards or honors, competition ratings or other parades and festivals. There’s a $25 application fee and participation is open to all types of bands.
