6abc/Dunkin Donuts Parade

Nearly 100 years old, the 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Parade is the oldest in the country.  Festive floats and giant balloons are the hallmarks of this iconic parade in Philadelphia, along with the talented marching bands that punctuate the festivities.  You can be a part of the thrills and excitement too! There are 15 spots for bands of 100 or more!

About the Parade

Give thanks for your students by showcasing their skills in this truly band-friendly parade.  Organizers make it so easy and fun that participating marching bands often return on a regular basis.  Marching bands start at 20th Street and JFK Boulevard and end at the steps of the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art. The parade is televised in many areas so friends and family can watch from home or for free along the parade route.  It’s also streamed live online, giving your students a worldwide audience.

How to Apply

Marching band applications are accepted on a rolling basis up to a year in advance.  Bands must have a minimum of 100 students and all styles are encouraged to apply.  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until selected bands are announced in February of the parade year.  Directors must also submit a DVD or thumb drive of a recent parade performance or field show.

About Philadelphia

Bands planning a trip to Philadelphia can spend a little extra time taking in the sights.  Tour Independence Hall and Liberty Bell Center, visit the home of Ben Franklin, or check out the Museum of the American Revolution.  Hop on a spooky ghost tour or try a famous Philly cheesesteak.  Your students will love the experience of performing and exploring in this historic city!

I have been traveling with Kaleidoscope for 19 years and still continue to be impressed by their expertise and willingness to go the extra mile to make my trip a success!
