Be a part of an iconic New Year’s Day tradition when you march in the Rose Parade. The parade route is 5 ½ miles down Colorado Blvd. and features magnificent floral-decorated floats, equestrian units, bands and more. Bands of any size are selected based on a variety of criteria, including musicianship, marching ability, uniqueness, entertainment value or special interest. Bands with the ability to perform show maneuvers while marching forward are encouraged to apply.
About the Parade
America’s New Year Celebration began in 1890. Since then, it has become an iconic part of our New Year’s traditions. Elaborate floats, impressive equestrian units and spectacular marching bands come together for an awe-inspiring performance. The parade begins at 8:00 am and moves at a 2 ½ hour pace through charming Pasadena. It’s televised on multiple national networks before an international audience – an incredible opportunity for your marching band to be seen and heard!
How to Apply
Bands should apply online approximately 18 months ahead to secure one of 12 coveted spots in the parade. Applicants should include a high-quality video of a parade performance, demonstrating skill and style. If chosen, they will also perform in one of three Bandfest events at Pasadena College in the days leading up to the parade.
