The Washington DC/Baltimore area is the ultimate destination for your science class. Kaleidoscope Adventures will bring your classroom to life by creating an earth, life and space sciences tour that will be second to none. Each student will see, hear and feel science and develop a new understanding that comes with direct experience at the many museums, exhibits, etc. that Washington DC/Baltimore has to offer. Designed to enhance your science curriculum and objectives, our Washington DC/Baltimore Science Tour will help your students gain a deeper understanding of earth, life and space sciences.
There are many options from which to choose including the following:
Baltimore National Aquarium
Named the #1 aquarium in the U.S. in 2006 by Coastal Living magazine, the National Aquarium is located in downtown Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. The aquarium has a collection of 16,500 specimens of 660 different species. Popular attractions include the dolphin display, rooftop rainforest, central ray pool, and a multiple-story shark tank. Groups will especially love the 4-D Immersion Theater with daily shows. The opportunity to visit the Baltimore National Aquarium will compliment any classroom studies on oceanography and life beneath the sea. Their excellent hands-on education programs for groups include classes on Aquatic and Marine Science. By getting their boots in the water and putting their hands in the earth, the many thousands of students who participate in the National Aquarium’s education programs make emotional connections that create lasting impressions for life. Maryland Science Center
Located in downtown Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area, the Maryland Science Center has exhibits that help educate students in earth, life, and space sciences. The center includes a rooftop observatory as well as nightly Sky and Stars SkiCasts to help astronomy students interpret the activities of stars, planets, and other celestial bodies and occurrences. Groups can also watch live chemical and scientific experiments on the Demo stage, see science films projected onto a sphere, learn about dinosaurs, the human body, weather, Sir Isaac Newton, space, and a whole host of other science activities. The science center also contains an IMAX theatre, a planetarium and traveling exhibits. Photo Courtesy of Visit Baltimore.
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
Only 30 minutes from Washington DC and Baltimore, the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center demonstrates the innovative and exciting work in Earth science, astrophysics, heliophysics, planetary science, engineering, communication and technology development. Groups can browse the unique, informative exhibits, learn about climate change, climb inside a Gemini space capsule, view photographs taken from the Hubble Space Telescope, wear a kid-sized spacesuit, or participate in one of the monthly model rocket launches. Student tour groups gain a deeper level of insight into contemporary space exploration.
