In 2011, Kaleidoscope Adventures embarked upon a journey. This journey was to create a guitar festival that would answer the needs of many guitar ensemble directors and provide educational guitar activities via workshops. We also developed this festival to stimulate interest and gain a wider acceptance of classic guitar music as an American art form. We named the festival East Coast GuitarFest and began our journey in the Norfolk, Virginia area. Our goal was to offer an educational element of the classical guitar by means of having knowledgeable guitar adjudicators and clinicians foster and encourage the talent and ability of young musical artists. Furthermore, the workshops examined many aspects of the guitar’s musical personality. The festival was a complete success! Because of this success, Kaleidoscope Adventures has made a commitment to continue this festival each year for the purpose of educating guitar students throughout the east coast and to meet the growing needs and popularity of this instrument. The festival is held in the Spring each year in Norfolk, Virginia.
